Stake Launcher
The Stake Launcher really is something special. Not that it's really good or anything; it's just such a ridiculous concept. Every stake the weapon shoots sends its target's agility plummeting to almost nothing. It's only for a small amount of time, but nothing is more satisfying than freezing the Blunderbuss noob running at you, even if it only lasts a few seconds.
This weapon has four stakes per clip, which is a little underwhelming as four stakes will only allow you to kill one player (three or four hits = one kill), so reloading will be an issue while using the weapon even though the reload time is quite small. It also has really horrible accuracy, which basically makes its high range a waste, as players who are moving (basically everyone) will evade the shot very easily. However, if you can manage one hit, hitting them again is very easy thanks to their decreased agility. This makes the Stake Launcher better on maps that support mid-short range combat, like Sandtown and the Snow Village maps where landing the crucial first shot is easier. My main recommendation for having more accurate shots is not try not to move too much when shooting. Movement will throw off your aim, so try to stay still while shooting. It's not worth the risk if there are other players nearby however; stationary players are very targetable. |

The Stake Launcher is very similar to the Revolver in terms of damage and fire rate. However, Revolver is easily better thanks to its much better accuracy, agility and general reliability. Overall the Stake Launcher is a decent weapon, but it isn't a weapon you bring to a heated game of skilled players with better weapons. It's more about the fun and enjoyment than anything else.
TL; DR
Definitely worth buying or competing for in the Monster Mash event. It's very fun to play and experiment with, just don't expect it to compete with the Revolvers, Double Barrel Shotguns and Howitzers that you will find many skilled players using. This weapon is also a little redundant now that the Dual Stake Launchers are around.
