Hunter Shotgun
In Respawnables, a shotgun that has range that reaches any more than a few metres is a real oddity. Out of the many, many shotguns in the game now, the Hunter Shotgun is perhaps the most unique of them all, possessing stats that are completely different from other shotguns in the game. Fortunately, it is these differences that make this weapon one of the best in the entire game.
The first difference you'll notice with this weapon is obviously the range. The weapon reaches out to distances further than what a Revolver could reach, and its damage remains fairly consistent as well. Against a player at mid-range, it is not uncommon for the weapon to 2HKO, with 3HKOs only happening if the player is too far away or they use a substantial amount of health armor. At close range, the weapon is just barely able to OHKO some players who don't use sufficient amounts of health armor, but it will otherwise kill the player in two hits. The weapon's great range and damage output make it a force to be reckoned with; it beats Revolver in both of these aspects, something that very few weapons can boast. However, like many of the other great weapons in the game, Hunter Shotgun does suffer from some shortcomings. |

The first issue is agility. While I do agree that the agility given is perfectly reasonable, it is one significant reason why Revolver is not outclassed by this weapon. If you're used to playing with Revolver, you will certainly notice the drop in speed, which does limit the weapon's ability to hunt down players. The other thing you'll notice with the weapon is reloading. The weapon lacks the pump action reload from various other shotguns in the game, but it retains the ability to interrupt reloading to shoot, which is a lifesaver for this weapon as its reload time is hideous. The characters has to insert each bullet into the weapon individually, which is a slow procedure, and will cause some serious issues if you're fighting players whilst running low on ammo. This is especially noticeable since the weapon has 6 shots in the clip rather than 10 from Double Barrel Shotgun, so you will burn through shots quickly and have to reload very frequently. Once again, Revolver does not suffer from this issue; it has a simple reload the gives it immediate access to all 6 shots, and it's fire rate is faster too, meaning that it will beat Hunter Shotgun if it misses a shot or has to reload. Hunter Shotgun also loses to Double Barrel Shotgun at close range, as its damage output is not as powerful, and won't OHKO a player with decent armor like Double Barrel will.
These shortcomings aside, here are some tips for how to play with this weapon:
Countering this weapon can be difficult due to its range and immediate power, but catching it off guard at close ranges or attacking it with snipers or Thumper at long range may prove to be effective ways to beat it. Flare Gun is also an option, as it can OHKO the player with the weapon, while the best they can do will likely be a 2HKO.
These shortcomings aside, here are some tips for how to play with this weapon:
- Do your best to stay at mid-range to players, as that's where this weapon performs at its best. Don't go so far that you won't reach players, but don't be so close that you'll get beaten by Blunderbuss and Double Barrel Shotgun. Play the weapon the same way that you'd play Revolver, basically.
- Pop in and out from around walls to protect yourself from the fire of weapons that don't do splash damage, and move left and right to make splash damage weapons like Howitzer and Thumper miss. Do this whilst firing at the player to have the best chance at beating the player without taking too much damage.
- Be smart with your reloading. Stay conscious of how many shots you have left, and if you don't have enough to fight a player, get behind something and reload until you have enough to fight them, preferably 3+ shots. Try your best to have at least 2 shots at all times. You won't be able to maintain this at all times, but if you have the chance to reload, take it. Reload after kills as you always would.
TL; DR
If you like Revolver, you'll like Hunter Shotgun. It plays nearly the exact same way, except with less agility and more attention to the ammunition left.
