Dual Revolvers
Whenever I look at Dual Revolvers, I question why these ever needed to exist at all. To be completely honest, I think their only novelty lies in how they’re Whiplash’s special weapons, with him being the final elite enemy and all. However, this gimmick was killed when the weapon was released to the shop, for an obscenely high price that isn’t worth paying when you really think about it. These weapons are outclassed. By what, you ask? None other than the original Revolver itself.
The first thing I’d like to say is that the four bars of damage the shop gives this weapon are an absolute lie. The Dual Revolvers are no more powerful than the original Revolvers are, yet still have one extra bar of damage in the shop. I feel like this is nothing more than a marketing ploy to get players to spend money on Gold in order to afford the high price of the Dual Revolvers. If this is what you plan to do, I advise you to stop now. As I will explain throughout the remained of this review, the Dual Revolvers are not worth their incredibly high price of 600 Gold. |

So if the Dual Revolvers aren’t any better in damage, surely they’re better in other stats, right? The answer is no; in fact, technically they’re worse. The Dual Revolvers suffer from a massive range dropoff that the Revolver does not have at all. If you appreciate all that extra range on the Revolver, kiss that goodbye when you press “equip” on the Dual Revolvers. The Dual Revolvers have such bad range I feel like they’re limited to closer range combat and not mid-range, which is the only range the weapon’s damage output is sufficient at. At close range, the Dual Revolvers are forced to compete with shotgun users much more than the Revolver is, which is the weapon’s main flaw and is also why I never play with these weapons over the original Revolver.
The one saving grace this weapon has is its clip size. As there are two Revolvers and not one, the Dual Revolvers have a clip size of 12, double that of the standard Revolver’s. This is appreciated since the Revolver’s clip size is one potential criticism for it, but it’s barely enough compensation for that awful range drop. Personally, I don’t really pay much attention to the clip size anyway, since I’m so used to reloading between kills that it’s now a habit to hit “reload” whenever there’s a chance, effectively making the extra shots pointless to me. I guess it does give you a bit more leeway if you miss a few of your shots, but if you’re experienced with Revolver, this should never have been an issue in the first place.
Looking at the weapon, I guess the range drop was intended to balance the extra clip size, but the developers got it way out of proportion in my opinion. The Dual Revolver’s range is simply unsatisfactory and the clip size does not make up for this, especially not when the standard Revolver has no range problem at all and can be used instead (and for a much cheaper 65,000 Cash). Don’t get me wrong, the weapons are still good and definitely viable. I just see no reason to use them over the standard Revolver, which is why I’m so critical of them.
If you just like the Dual Revolvers more for whatever reason, here are some tips for their use. As you’d imagine, they’re quite similar to the original Revolver, but with some slight modification in order to deal with the range issue.

If you just like the Dual Revolvers more for whatever reason, here are some tips for their use. As you’d imagine, they’re quite similar to the original Revolver, but with some slight modification in order to deal with the range issue.
- My first tip addresses the range problem: if you know you can’t reach them, don’t fight them. Running after a competent player is pointless, since they’ll see you and beat you before your range allows you to deal sufficient damage to them. Even if it’s a newbie, if they’re far away, it’s probably better to turn back and pursue a kill that’s a little closer to reach.
- When going up against shotgun users, back away. Fire at them and keep backing away. This will help you defend yourself, as shotguns do lower damage the further away you are. This is especially important when dealing with Blunderbuss.
- Strafe. Move left and right to make your opponent miss. Circle around your opponent to disorient them. Don’t run straight forward, as this make you easy to lock on to.
- Try to break the habit of hitting reload so often. Be a bit more reckless with your shots, if it’s to your advantage. The extra clip size gives you something to fall back on if you miss a few times, but always try to aim properly anyway as killing your enemies quickly is crucial.
TL; DR
Do not spend your Gold on the Dual Revolvers. The standard Revolver, which you must go buy now if you have not already, is the better weapon. Put your Gold towards Double Barrel Shotgun and Anti Material Sniper, unique weapons that are not so badly outclassed.
