Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary (event)
Respawnables are bringing the Ghostbusters film from the 1980s back to the limelight with this new event, which is arguably one of the most fun to date. In this brand new event, released in late August 2014, we receive access to the Ghostbusters bundle though tier prizes, we get a brand new weapon in the Plasma Shotgun and some deadly new ghost and enemy-slaying gadgets. We also get the new Ectoplasm-Gold Converter shirt, which convert every thousand Ectoplasm you get into a Gold bar (maximum one Gold bar per match).

In this event, your goal is to search for ghosts which frequently appear when players die. You can damage ghosts with any weapon, but energy-based weapons (Tri-Barrel Plasma Rifle, Plama Punch, Plasma Rifle, Zap Gun and Proton Gun) will kill ghosts faster than usual. The ghosts you damage will drop Ectoplasm, which you must collect to pass the tiers (note how I said damage; you don't have to kill the ghost to receive Ectoplasm). There are three different kinds of ghosts:

Some tips
I highly recommend that you don't use energy weapons. None of them are really very good (even Plasma Shotgun sucks), so stick with weapons that can kill ghosts faster. They include Revolver, Thumper, various shotguns, Howitzer Gun and more. Remember, most of the ghosts you get will be from guys you kill so if you aren't getting any kills with a bad energy weapon, don't use it! It's simply not worth it.
Another recommendation I have is mentioned above, but I'll say it again in more detail: farm Ectoplasm on the Marshmallow Men. Each hit you get will give you a very, very high amount of ectoplasm; just keep hitting them. Don't bother hitting other guys, even if they drop a ghost, you'll still get more Ectoplasm by hitting the Marshmallow Man. The only time you should hit them is if they're making the Marshmallow Man die too quickly; you want to be able to farm for as much as possible, so shoot at the guy if he's using an energy weapon that's killing the Marshmallow Man too quickly. I personally believe that whether or not you're the one who kills the Marshmallow Man does not matter, it's all about how much Ectoplasm you get so try to keep the Marshmallow Man alive for as long as possible so you can keep farming.
By far the best weapons for farming are the shotgun weapons. They suck for the regular ghosts, but at close range they demolish the Marshmallow Man. They give you loads of Ectoplasm each hit too, so by repeatedly hitting it you can get thousands of Ectoplasm in one match. Zap Gun and Thumper are also both decent but the shotguns are better. Also, if you happen to have some of the ghost traps or energy grenades, burn though some of them. The traps are great for Marshmallow Men and the energy grenades are fun to freeze ghosts and players caught in the blast.
For the Ectoplasm-Gold Converter, 1000 Ectoplasm is fairly easy keeping in mind each match will generally have at least one Marshmallow Man (which give away tons of Ectoplasm), so you can vary your weapon choices lots more. Once you get the converter, just have fun with it and enjoy the event while it lasts, I don't think we'll see something as fun and unique as this again any time soon.

Crash issues and extension
Halfway through the event, Respawnables began suffering massive amounts of lag, crashing and visual bugs. Digital Legends responded to the bugs by releasing a bug fix update, along with a two-week extension of the Ghostbusters event on top of the two days that already remained at the time. Digital Legends also fixed a variety of other bugs, such as a bug with the Flare Gun where it would 2HKO and not OHKO, and a bug where the Close Quarters bundle from Summer Camp stopped working.
The update also included support for iOS 8.
