Noisy Cricket
Once upon a time, a weapon called the Noisy Cricket dominated Respawnables. It was hated by the community for being overpowered. It was a one-shot kill weapon, with lots of other perks that made it powerful. However, the Noisy Cricket lived with one crippling extra feature. Little did it know that this would cause its downfall after a year of being the king of Respawnables. The Noisy Cricket was only good because of a bug with the game that went unnoticed by the developers for many months, until one fateful night in early 2015 when the developers released an update that fixed the glitch. The Noisy Cricket was defeated. Everyone celebrated.
Fairy tales and cosplay aside though, the Noisy Cricket really was a great weapon, but now it's incredibly mediocre and hasn't nearly as much use as it did before. All it took was a tiny damage decrease to stop it from being one-shot kill, and the weapon was much much worse. The Noisy Cricket is no longer worth your money. If you're looking for something to spend money on, the Battle Ram or certain limited-time bundles are your best option now. |

So, why is the weapon so bad if it can't one-shot kill? The answer lies in its reload, which packs a unique feature shared with no other weapon: recoil. When you fire this weapon, your player will get shot backward. While this had its advantages and disadvantages when the weapon could OHKO, it's now the reason why it sucks. While you're flying backward, the weapon's reload is delayed, and you can't shoot, leaving you vulnerable. You're practically immobilised for two or three seconds, and due to how fast Respawnables' weapons kill, you're more than likely going get killed by the player you shot at or someone else who steals their kill in that time. The recoil does give you a fast way to avoid the death from below grenade, and gives you a swift and easy way to pivot on the spot to turn around, but it's not nearly enough to compensate for leaving you vulnerable for that time.
Thankfully for the Noisy Cricket, it's not entirely useless thanks to its other unique mechanic - how it fires. It shoots out a mass of white circular clouds, which will leave a player on roughly 10% of their health if they're caught in it. The shot can also penetrate players and explosive barrels, meaning it can hit multiple players in one shot. This was especially overpowered when the weapon killed in one hit, but now it's just the weapon's unsatisfactory attempt to make itself useful. The weapon just isn't the same any more.
If you still have your heart set on the weapon, my recommendations are:

If you still have your heart set on the weapon, my recommendations are:
- Be wise about when you fire. Don't shoot randomly, try to aim and predict the player's movement. If you miss, you'll need to try to hit them again at least two more times before you land the kill; in that time, the opponent will definitely have already killed you.
- Strafe. Move in a fashion that makes the opponent miss. This will extend your longevity.
- Get somewhere higher and shoot from above. This means you'll have an easier way to hit the player in the head and headshot, which will kill the player in one hit. If you can't do that, aim a little higher to increase your chance of landing a headshot.
TL; DR
This is a weapon of the past. It was once one of the best weapons in the game, but it has fallen to become one of the most mediocre weapons in the game.
