Shotgun
The ordinary shotgun is like the underdog of the shotgun family. It's outclassed by every other shotgun in the game, but it's still definitely a good weapon for players to use when they're just starting out at the game. It deals huge amounts of damage at close range and reloading isn't much of an issue either thanks to its eight rounds per clip. Reloading times can even be interrupted if need be. At close range, this weapon's power will surprise you for sure; don't be surprised if a newbie sneaks up behind and successfully scores a kill.
Shotguns are best used on maps that encourage close-range combat like Headquarters, Sandtown and Eastside District on certain occasions, so newbies should be looking to try and rack up some kills with Shotgun on those maps. The Shotgun is also a good way to weaken the elite enemies early on in the game, shotguns are surprisingly effective at whittling away their health, little by little. This shotgun - and all the others in the game - is countered very easily with range. Very often you'll find that you'll be beaten by players with longer range weapons before you can even fire at them. To try and fix this, only use this weapon on the aforementioned maps; its use on long maps like Royal Garden is very limited. |

TL; DR
It's great, but it's also fully outclassed by every other shotgun in the game. If you have access to the Blunderbuss, Double Barrel Shotgun, Hunter Shotgun, Automatic Shotgun etc. this weapon is outclassed.
