Dual Pistols
The Dual Pistols are the first dual weapons available to you in the game, and surprisingly, they don't do a bad job of introducing this special weapon class. The weapons, for a start, have perfect agility, which means you can move quickly and find players at top speed. However, the weapons aren't perfect at all; they have crippling flaws that keep from from being used much in the game at all.
The first is their range. The weapons don't reach very far at all, which keeps the weapons from being as useful as they could be on large and open maps. The damage is good; they kill pretty quickly if you're close enough to the player, but nowhere near fast enough to compare with shotgun weapons that are the kings in close range play. The weapons don't deal enough damage and longer ranges, which kills almost all of its viability with players who have access to better weapons.
However, early on with players new to the game, this weapon is definitely one of the better choices around. The Shotgun and Scoped Assault Rifle are still the best options in that situation, but Dual Pistols are still viable if you are looking for a change.

TL; DR
The weapons are OK later on in the game, but early on, they are one of the best options. The Shotgun is arguably better, though.
